The gut punch
The explosion in my chest that mimics yours
When we are aligned my body buzzes with a fierceness that will bring any woman to her knees
I know this journey is ours to keep
But how do I separate my reality?
I twist and turn inside my own flesh just trying to keep my distance
You’re not mine to have
I am not yours
Yet we are the same
Two magnets desperately pulling towards one another only to find out we’ve got our facings wrong
Together, apart, always connected
When you are steady, I am whole
When I am well, you are healed
As it was many lifetimes before now it will be for every lifetime here after
The halves of our soul will find their way
As I watch the snow melting off the rooftop, I have an unexplainable knowing
A knowing that pulsates more and more with every tik of the clock
Our fates are growing
But now is not our time.
I am forced to resist the pull of your deep dark eyes
Eyes that match mine, keeping me safe inside
Damaged in union.
